Congratulations, Nick, you made the cover of Batman!!

"...and put on some pants."
Well, I've been sitting on this one for awhile now, as it was a gift. Last night I finally got to deliver the gift, so that means - now I can post it!!!
A couple weeks ago I had some fun with one of the blank sketch variants for Batman #0 (see below for a "before" shot). This was done for our dear friend Nick Stevens, whose is mostly known for his sports oriented comic shennanigans. Nick is always gracious enough to make the haul up from New York every year to host our fundraiser comedy show and I alway like to present him with some token of thanks. Generally, given his love of sports, those tokens have been some pretty sweet sport memorabilia.
This year, I wanted to try something a little different. Given my recent plunge back into "doodling" and my knowledge that Nick is a HUGE batgeek (not unlike myself), when this book came out it just seemed obvious what I should do. Congratulations, Nick, you made the cover of Batman!!

Did this up tonight to submit to the Goon Art contest going on over at Darkhorse.com
the deadline is tomorrow. I am kind of shocked I actually followed through with this.
I hope I win!

Avalyn's first comic page

Avalyn wasn't excited, she said. She was  "SUPER excited" to get her first comic book page - from Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz #1 by Skottie Young. I couldn't be happier about her reaction since. She is now reading the 3rd HC "Ozma of Oz" with her mom everynight. On every page she now needs to pick out her favorite panel. She even asked the other night how Skottie learned "to draw so good". Buying this page for her gave her a real appreciation for the work an artist does on a comic and I'm pretty darn proud of her for that!!

Her art collection (some of which is visible behind her) also features work by Sean "Cheeks" Galloway, Mark McKenna, Franco, Craig Rousseau, Rebekah Issacs, and an absolutely brilliant piece by Mouse Guard's David Peterson. Oh, and a couple by me...

Fairy

It was requested of me to draw a fairy quite some time ago.
The only stipulation was that the fairy couldn't be naked...so it took me awhile to figure out how to do that....
