Mysterio!

Skottie Young posted a bunch of commisions on his blog from last weekend. One of them was Mysterio. Mysterio has always been one of my favorite Spidey villians so I figured I would draw him, too. One day I hope to color this!

Since the blog is called Thins Get Sketchy, I thought I should include the quick doodle I did at work. I liked how scrawny he was in this but I ended up making him more athletic. If I remember correctly, Mysterio's back story is that he is (along with being an actor/FX specialist) a stunt man! I also figure he would need to be pretty jacked to occasionally attempt to go toe to toe with web-head!

Usagi Yojimbo 3.0

Another crack at Usagi Yojimbo. I have decided that 2014 is a year of practice practice practice. So, don't be surprised to see a lot of the same characters/themes being repeated. Can't go wrong with Usagi in my opinion!

Please note that I was hesitant to draw the sword blade tonight and I really wish I went with my gut because I am well past the point of drawing a straight line. bleh!

Sherlock 2.0

I wasn't very happy with the first one...

I am not happy with this one either, but it shows some improvement.

Usagi Yojimbo 2

Another crack at Usagi Yojimbo

This started as a little sketch I did while at work yesterday

I scanned it in, blew it up and printed it on some copy paper. I took that to the lightbox and took my first crack at fresh inks on a 9 x 12 piece of Bristol.
That led to this finished piece which actually differs from what is above.
The neck on this was driving me crazy. Usagi doesn't have a very long neck, and although my take on him is in fact that - MY take, I think Usagi's lack of neck is a pretty defining characteristic. So, after scanning this in, I photo shopped his neck and head ever so slightly to get the finished pic at the top of the post.
And yes, I did all those little dots on his shirt. Stan did it, I thought I should, too!
